🔍 Step 1: CHOOSE A QUEST
Clue & Compass quests are story-driven adventures that take place in the real world, guided by our interactive companion app.
Signature Quests launch with a mysterious email asking for your help and can begin right away—perfect for a spontaneous adventure or international visitors to NYC.
Signature Deluxe Quests unfold over 2+ weeks, beginning with a mailed letter asking for your help, followed by a packet of activities to build excitement leading up to the big day, and finishing with a congratulatory keepsake after your quest is complete. If you're planning a trip to NYC from out of town* or have a specific date in mind, be sure to order early so everything arrives in time.
For both options, we highlight recommended ages and interest groups, along with the general areas covered, so you can choose the experience that’s the best and most convenient fit.

🖋 STEP 2: CUSTOMIZE YOUR QUEST
After purchase, you’ll receive an email with your Quest Code.
Your Quest Code unlocks the adventure and allows you to attach it to a Clue & Compass team account.
To begin:
- Tap here or use the "Get Started" button on the home screen of the Clue & Compass companion app.
- Enter your Quest Code to unlock the quest.
- Create or log in to your team account to confirm customization details and link the quest to your account. Please note that our shop is powered by Shopify, so you’ll need to create a separate team login for the companion app.
Giving a quest as a gift?
You can use the Quest Code to create a custom printable certificate for the recipient(s). They can redeem the code whenever they’re ready to begin the adventure.
Signature Deluxe Quests
When redeeming the Quest Code, you’ll also:
- provide mailing information for the customized pre-hunt materials
- choose when the mailings should begin shipping.
This lets you time the materials for a birthday, holiday, or upcoming trip without spoiled surprises or mail arriving too early.
👓 STEP 3: Get Set
Once you've redeemed your quest, take a moment to get set up.
1. Read the Grown-Up Guide
A short guide will be emailed after your Quest Code is redeemed. It explains what to expect and how to help guide the quest.
2. Download the Clue & Compass App
If you haven’t already, download the Clue & Compass companion app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
3. Confirm Your Quest Is Set
Log in to your team account in the app and make sure your redeemed quest appears in the Quests tab.
🧭 STep 4: Adventure awaits!
Signature Quests: Your adventure begins by email as soon as you redeem your quest. Open it within the Clue & Compass app to get your first clue and set out for a ~1.5-hour NYC adventure filled with hidden stories and discoveries.
Signature Deluxe Quests: Within 4–7 days of your chosen shipping date, themed letters and activities arrive to build excitement at home. You can set out for an unforgettable ~1.5-hour quest in NYC any time you want by opening it within the app—but doing it after the mailings have arrived adds the thrill of anticipation leading up to it.
After your adventure, a final Deluxe mailing with curated keepsakes arrives as a congratulatory surprise.
